How this tool works

LinkedIn's connection export CSV begins with a multi-line notice header ('Notes: This download contains...') before the actual column headers, causing most CSV parsers to misidentify the column names or fail entirely. Additionally, the Connected On date column uses natural language format ('10 Jan 2024') which most CRM imports require as ISO 8601 (2024-01-10). This cleaner: strips the LinkedIn notice header, finds the real column header row, normalises dates to ISO format, flags missing email addresses (LinkedIn only includes an email if the connection shared their contact info), and optionally adds a 'days_connected' column from today's date. LinkedIn connection archives provide raw member export files where first names, last names, company titles, and connection dates are mixed with empty email addresses and corporate disclaimers. DataFix strips disclaimer rows, standardizes connection dates into ISO formats, formats company names, and filters out incomplete contacts, generating a clean lead list for CRM outreach. Exported LinkedIn connection files contain trailing legal disclaimers, missing email fields, and inconsistent corporate titles. Stripping disclaimers and standardizing dates provides a clean lead list for CRM outreach.

Things that usually go wrong

  • LinkedIn adds 3 preamble rows before the actual header — these are stripped automatically.
  • Some connections have no email (LinkedIn does not always include emails) — these rows are preserved with an empty email column.

Edge cases we tested

🧪 LinkedIn changes notice text in future export

Header detection uses column-name heuristics (First Name, Last Name, Email Address), not notice text match.

🧪 Connection with no email address (private profile)

Email Address column preserved as blank; not dropped.

🧪 Connected On date in 'Jan 10, 2024' format (US locale)

Parsed correctly with locale-aware date parser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my LinkedIn export have extra rows at the top?

LinkedIn prepends disclaimer text before the CSV header. The tool removes these automatically.

Are all connections included?

Only connections who have chosen to share their email will have an email. The rest are still included without an email.
