# Onfyt – Free In-Browser CSV Cleaner & Data Transformer

> Onfyt is a browser-based tool for cleaning, converting, and transforming CSV, TSV, JSON, and Excel data. Supported transformations run locally. The current app has no AI service.

## What Onfyt does

Onfyt provides 154 specific data tools organized into ten categories:

- **Clean**: Split names, normalize addresses, remove duplicates, trim whitespace, fix phone numbers, clean email lists, fix name capitalization, remove HTML tags, fill blanks, fix garbled encoding, remove emojis, standardize yes/no values, fix ZIP codes, standardize country/state names, remove special characters
- **Convert**: CSV↔JSON, CSV↔Excel, CSV↔TSV, CSV↔Markdown, JSON↔SQL, JSON↔TypeScript, JSON↔Markdown, CSV↔JSONL, TSV↔JSON, Excel↔CSV, Excel↔JSON, CSV→Postman, CSV→SQL INSERT, CSV→key-value pairs, CSV→vertical records, CSV→mail merge
- **Format**: Format and pretty-print JSON, minify JSON, fix CSV delimiters, escape/unescape CSV quotes, wrap values in quotes, change CSV delimiter, sort CSV by column, reorder columns, rename columns, add/remove header rows, add prefix/suffix
- **Validate**: Validate CSV structure, validate JSON, find duplicate rows, find missing values, validate email lists, validate phone numbers, check column consistency, find invalid dates, find outliers, count unique values, profile a CSV
- **Reshape**: Transpose CSV, pivot CSV, group-by and count, filter rows by condition, select/remove columns, add calculated column, sample rows, keep first/last N rows, add row numbers, unpivot wide-to-long, pivot long-to-wide

## How instructions work

When a user types a plain-English instruction, Onfyt follows this pipeline:

1. **Local rule engine**: Common operations (phone formatting, name splitting, deduplication, whitespace trimming, date normalization, sorting, filtering) are matched to checked-in local transformations. No network request is made.

2. **Unsupported instructions**: If no local rule matches, Onfyt reports that the instruction is unsupported. It does not send the instruction, column names, rows, or files to an AI service.

3. **Local execution**: Supported transformations run in a short-lived Web Worker on the user's device. Row data is passed only within the browser.

## Privacy guarantees

- Files, rows, column names, and instructions stay in the browser. The hosting provider may process technical request metadata.
- Onfyt stores the theme preference in localStorage. It does not add analytics trackers or advertising cookies.

## Tech stack

- Static site built with Vite + React
- CSV/TSV parsing: PapaParse (local)
- Excel reading/writing: SheetJS community edition (local)
- Transformations: Generated JavaScript running in browser Web Workers
- No AI API endpoint is included in the current application
- Per-tool JS code-splitting: each of the 154 tool data files is a separate lazy-loaded chunk (~7–10 KB each)
