How this tool works
Things that usually go wrong
- Excel does not preserve merge information in CSV exports. This tool uses fill-down as a heuristic, which works for most standard merged-header layouts.
- If your blank cells are intentionally empty (not from merging), this tool will incorrectly fill them.
Edge cases we tested
Empty rows not filled; detected as row separators and preserved or removed.
No ancestor value to fill from; blank preserved with a warning.
User can switch to column-specific fill-down to control exactly which columns receive fill-down treatment.
