Convert any text to UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, or camelCase

Convert text between any capitalisation style: uppercase, lowercase, title case, sentence case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, and kebab-case.

🛡️ Your rows never leave your browser.
Why Onfyt: Title Case applies English capitalisation rules (articles, prepositions lowercased) rather than simply capitalising every word.

How this tool works

Capitalisation conventions differ across databases, programming languages, APIs, and style guides. A database column named in snake_case (user_first_name) must be renamed to camelCase (userFirstName) for a JavaScript API response. A list of product names entered in lowercase needs Title Case for a catalogue. A batch of developer identifiers in PascalCase need to be converted to kebab-case for URL slugs. This tool supports eight case styles in one place: | Style | Example | |-------|---------| | UPPERCASE | THE QUICK BROWN FOX | | lowercase | the quick brown fox | | Title Case | The Quick Brown Fox | | Sentence case | The quick brown fox | | camelCase | theQuickBrownFox | | PascalCase | TheQuickBrownFox | | snake_case | the_quick_brown_fox | | kebab-case | the-quick-brown-fox | | UPPER_SNAKE_CASE | THE_QUICK_BROWN_FOX | | COBOL-CASE | THE-QUICK-BROWN-FOX | Title Case applies standard English rules: prepositions (of, in, at, by, for, with, on, to), articles (a, an, the), and coordinating conjunctions (and, but, or, nor) are lowercased unless they start the title. Sentence case capitalises only the first word and proper nouns. For batch processing: paste one phrase per line and each line is converted independently. All conversion runs inside your browser tab.

Things that usually go wrong

  • Title Case cannot automatically detect proper nouns — 'visit nairobi today' becomes 'Visit Nairobi Today' in word-by-word Title Case (every word is capitalised), not 'Visit nairobi Today'.
  • Acronyms like 'API', 'CSV', 'JSON' may be lowercased in camelCase/snake_case unless the input already uses word boundaries around them.
  • Non-Latin scripts (Arabic, Chinese) have no case concept — they pass through unchanged regardless of the mode selected.

Edge cases we tested

🧪 snake_case input ('user_account_balance') converted to camelCase

Underscores treated as word boundaries: userAccountBalance.

🧪 ALL-CAPS acronym in Title Case ('NASA budget' → Title Case)

Preserved: 'NASA Budget' — all-caps words are assumed to be acronyms and left unchanged.

🧪 Sentence case with a proper noun mid-sentence ('visit nairobi today')

First word capitalised: 'Visit nairobi today' — the engine does not auto-detect proper nouns.

🧪 Mixed input ('helloWorld' converted to snake_case)

camelCase boundaries detected: hello_world.

🧪 Empty line in batch input

Empty line produces an empty output line — no error, no skipping.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Title Case and Sentence case?

Title Case capitalises the first letter of most words (with exceptions for articles and prepositions). Sentence case capitalises only the first word of the sentence and proper nouns.

Can I convert identifiers from camelCase to snake_case?

Yes — the engine detects camelCase word boundaries (transitions from lowercase to uppercase letters) and splits them accordingly.

Does it work on an entire CSV column?

Yes — paste the CSV and specify 'convert the [column name] column to Title Case'. For bulk column operations, use 'Change Text Case' in the CSV tools.

What about numbers in identifiers ('address2', 'item_3')?

Numbers are treated as word characters — they are kept in place during conversion and do not become word boundaries in snake_case or camelCase.
