Clean

Flatten volatile Excel spreadsheet formulas (=VLOOKUP, =SUM) into static literal values

Freeze calculated spreadsheet formulas into static values and strip formula overhead.

🛡️ Your rows never leave your browser.
Why Onfyt: Replaces fragile dynamic spreadsheet formulas with immutable values while cleaning up ugly #REF! and #N/A errors.

How this tool works

Spreadsheet models rely heavily on dynamic formulas: =VLOOKUP to pull customer addresses from another tab, =SUM to calculate subtotals, and =TODAY() to evaluate age. While dynamic formulas are essential during active modeling, sharing or archiving workbooks containing live formulas is fraught with risk. If an external file is moved or renamed, =VLOOKUP formulas immediately collapse into #REF! or #N/A errors. If someone sorts a table containing relative cell references, the formulas point to the wrong rows, corrupting all financial numbers. Furthermore, database loaders and web platforms reject formulas because they only accept literal numbers and strings. DataFix performs the equivalent of Excel's 'Copy -> Paste Special -> Values', but at scale and directly in your browser. It evaluates every cell's cached calculated value, strips away the formula syntax, and converts formula error codes (#N/A, #VALUE!, #DIV/0!) into clean nulls or custom fallback values. The resulting table is frozen and immune to formula corruption.

Things that usually go wrong

  • Circular references in the source file may produce incorrect cached values.
  • Formulas that reference external files will show the last cached value, not a re-computed result.

Edge cases we tested

🧪 Cells containing formula errors (#N/A, #REF!, #DIV/0!)

Replaced with clean blank cells or custom placeholders.

🧪 Formulas returning text strings (=CONCAT(A2, ' ', B2))

Preserved as pure text literals without quote escaping issues.

🧪 Volatile functions like =TODAY() and =RAND()

Frozen at their last calculated value.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I remove formulas?

Sending a file externally, importing into a database, or archiving for compliance — all require stable values, not live formulas that could change.

Are formatting and styles preserved?

Yes. Only the cell formula is replaced with its value. Number formatting, borders, and colours remain.

What happens to VLOOKUP and INDEX/MATCH formulas?

These are evaluated to their last computed values. If the referenced range was valid at the time of the last calculation, the value is preserved. Broken references (#REF!) are replaced with empty strings.

Can I remove formulas from only specific sheets in a workbook?

Yes — use Split Excel by Sheet first to isolate the sheet, apply this tool, then merge back if needed.
